There’s no doubt that gadgets and apps have taken the trade show world by storm, but just how efficiently are you using the latest tools? Here are some resources to get you up to speed.
This list of 50 apps contains some handy ones for road-warrior trade show pros, including Alfred or Fondu (restaurant finders), CardMunch (converts business cards to digital contacts), SpringPad (personal assistant), and of course two rising stars –Instagram and Pinterest.
Ever since I wrote my book, Build a Better Trade Show Image — ten years ago — I’ve been trying to convince both show managers and exhibitors that doing shows the same way won’t cut it anymore. If you look at the statistics for many expos (especially association shows), you’ll see the primary demographic is age 40-plus, with many averaging even age 50-plus. But if you want your show to stay alive, you better figure out how to reach the 20- and 30-somethings, and you better do it quick!

Unless you’ve been completely offline this week, you’ve likely seen the widespread protest against the SOPA and PIPA bills in Congress. But there’s been strangely few media mentions within the meetings/conventions/trade show world, and I can’t understand why.
