In Chapter 15 of the new edition of Build a Better Trade Show Image, I shared the story of electronics superstore B&H hosting an annual event for photographers called OPTIC (Outdoor, Photo/Video, Travel Imaging Conference).
Now they’re taking it to the next level for the B&H 50th anniversary with the Bild Expo, September 6-7 at the Javits Center in New York City.
Bild is the Yiddish word for image, and this new event is designed to celebrate photo, video and audio artists. It will feature high-profile industry speakers and an expanded expo, along with plenty of ways for attendees to get hands-on with their craft.
Some of the creative and fun experiences offered include:
- Photo walks (discover and capture iconic locations around New York City)
- B&H Bild Camera Museum (a nostalgic journey of the past 50 years featuring select vintage equipment)
- Creators Lounge to network with industry leaders and peers
- The Audio Experience (experiment with the latest recording devices)
- Kodak 16mm Film Workshop (celebrating the 100th anniversary of 16mm filmmaking)
And all of these activities are included in the free registration.
Sadly I won’t be able attend this fall, but I look forward to experiencing this fun and creative event in the future! (If you have the opportunity to attend, please come back here and share your reactions in the comments.)
And if you’re thinking about hosting your own private expo, I encourage you to explore the Bild Expo website.
